“Kevin must learn to keep his coloring inside the lines.”

She used to give us a lot of mimeographed line drawings to fill in with crayons. I remember hating the threat of not being able to go out to play during the recess if I didn’t finish coloring on time. Maybe the reason I couldn’t stay inside the lines was that my anxiety was making me rush.
I remember one little girl who didn’t know how to stop talking after being told to do so numerous times. I remember well the tears of humiliation in her eyes when Miss LeFevre stuck masking tape across her mouth. I didn’t want that to happen to me!
